Step by step install Appserv on Windows 7

This post is part of PHP installer series that will be update regularly to show how to install easily with one file but you’ll end with minimum Apache, PHP, MySQL installed in your computer.

Today I’m going to start with Appserv, one of my favorite installer. Lets get start!

Download latest version of Appserv

I use version 2.5.10 from here.

Save the file to My Document or other directory.

Install Appserv on Windows 7

Double click the installer file.

Click Next.

Read license agreement and click I Agree.

Choose install location, by default Appserv will be installed on C:\Appserv. You can the place by click Browse button and click Next when you’re done.

Select Components, just let it as is. You’ll need all of them. Click Next.

Enter server name and administrator email address.

You can enter anything you want here and click Next.

Let Apache HTTP port at 80.

Enter root password twice, write down the password or memorize it.

Click Install.

If you want to enable old compatibility with older MySQL version choose “Old password support”.

If you want to use transaction in your PHP script you’ll need to enable innodb support.

Windows firewall will ask you, choose “Private networks” since you’ll use appserv locally.

click Allow Access.

Completing Appserv setup wizard by click Finish.

Check if Appserv installed perfecly

Simple way to check if appserv installed successfully is by open web browser and open localhost address.

Open Internet explorer

Type http://localhost and hit Enter.

If you see like this display, it mean you successfully install Appserv.

Where I must save my website files?

If you use standar install procedure provided by Appserv then you must save all your web files ( html file, js file, jpg, gif etc) in C:\Appserv\www

Congratulation!

You have working Apache, PHP and MySQL system installed in your computer.
