Do you want to hack google, yahoo or facebook?
Do you want to hack your friend email account?
No…no..no…no. I don’t mean real hack but temporary change the HOSTS file. You need to change HOSTS file when you need to build home server where you’ll use domain or hostname instead of 127.0.0.1 or localhost address.
There are two ways to accomplish that purpose :
In Windows 7 you can go to
Find file named hosts and double click the file.
Choose notepad or wordpad to edit the file.
You can delete any line except
Add new line started with
Save the file and you’re on business.
Download software called HostsXperts from here.
Extract the file and double click HostsXperts executable file.
You’ll see picture like below and to start add hostname or domain click “Editing” button.
Enter domain or hostname and click “Add Line” button.
Repeat the step for other domain like ‘Yahoo.com’
You’ll see lists of host with address 127.0.0.1
Testing HOSTS file effect
If you enable IIS 7 on Windows 7 like I do you can start test the result of hosts file by opening new browser and type :
google.com or yahoo.com
If you see diplay like this one
You’re doing good job 🙂
Congatulation for you.
Reset everything to default HOSTS setting
Click Editing tab and followed by click Restore MS Hosts File
New confirmation file will appear.
“Press OK to Restore Microsoft original Hosts File”
Hosts file will get restored to original state.
I think this software doing great job. I don’t have to edit hosts file manually and I also able to restore the file in quick. Highly recommended for anyone who play with hosts file frequently.
See you in other post and stay health!
